December
13th December 2004
Well, Christmas will soon be upon us. We are currently going through the rounds of social engagements, work functions and friend's parties that will continue into the new year. Last year our Christmas was very quiet, we had no furniture, no decorations, no friends or relatives with us. This year things are back to normal and Marisa is going completely ga-ga over christmas decorations.
The tree is a work of art, eight feet of decorations collected over some 20 years. There are snow flakes crocheted by Marisa's great grandmother, wooden toys, glass and ceramic pieces, candy canes, artistic pieces as well as plastic novelties. It is a work of art and a repository of an important part of our family culture. It contains mementos from friends, craftwork from our children and approximately 500 lights.
Yesterday we had to go out to buy a train that now runs around our tree, puffing smoke and blowing a whistle. I'm not sure what the train has to do with christmas but it looks wonderful and is right at home with our saxaphone playing Santa Claus and ice dancing teddy bear.
